简介

The East End Badoes were one of the original London hooligan punk bands. Formed by Poplar Boy Terry Hayes and Cockney Rejects roadie Skully – both legendary in their own right – the band started in the back streets of Poplar, East London, incubating in pubs such as the Ancient Brit and developing a following that included members of Cock Sparrer, the Business, Angela Rippon’s Bum, Barney Rubble and the Rejects. Their songs were as tough and uncompromising as the band themselves. ‘Reg & Ron’ celebrated East London villains The Kray Twins. ‘The Way It’s Gotta Be’ was about the working class life-style and was the only Badoes number to be released during the first spurt of Oi – it was featured on the e.p. that came with the fourth Oi album, ‘Oi Oi That’s Yer Lot’. The band was occasionally reviewed in the music press, but their habit of taking axes to gigs as stage props was considered off-putting by some. The original line-up broke up when bassist Skully was detained at Her Majesty’s Pleasure for the best part of fifteen years. Singer Terry, known as the Gentleman Of Oi, was talked into reforming the band in 2000 by Badoes’ fanatic Watford Jon of Argy Bargy. Shortly after, Mick Geggus begged them to record two tracks for his Kings Of StreetPunk compilation. In late 2011, the original Badoes, including Skully, got together to record a come-back e.p. The band remains grassroots Oi through and through THE EAST END BADOES ARE BACK IN 2012 WITH 4 BRAND NEW TUNES.
