简介
Somewhere Along The Way has been a fascinating journey. Not only did I record my favourite jazz songs, but to have done so in such magical and spiritual places as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem was simply amazing! I have listened to and loved many wonderful songs throughout my life. Yet, when I sat down with my music producer Asaf Finkelstein to choose songs for this project, I wanted to pick those which I felt most deeply connected to and truly passionate about. It has been incredible to see my dream come true. I am especially grateful to the exceptional people who made it possible – particularly the talented musicians who brought Asaf’s wonderful arrangements to life: Guy Levi (double bass), Kobi Salomon (saxophone), Roy Oliel (drums) and Chen Levy (featured vocalist). For me, jazz is more than just a musical genre. It’s also an intimate and articulate way of telling stories - stories of love, loss, hope and life, stories that everyone can relate to somewhere along the way. The songs I chose for my debut album are imbued with such intense emotion and spiritual feeling that I am certain that the stories they tell will also resonate deeply within each of you. I truly hope that you’ll love this album as much as I loved recording it for you! As for my story......Antoine L Collins lawyer turned(entertainer) actor, artist, singer was born and raised outside of Chicago in Gary Indiana. Although raised in the foster care system he managed to escape the merry-go-round of foster homes that some children regularly endure. He was one of the lucky ones, loving family environment and surrounded by the arts, be it music, theater, or the visual arts. Antoine attended Indiana University Bloomington where his calling for being an entertainer flourished. He went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Collins spent several years working for the Baltimore City States Attorney’s office where he prosecuted child abuse and domestic violence cases. Later, in his legal career he went on to work for the Law firm of Semmes Bowen & Semmes before starting his own firm of Collins & Harris and being called to the Ontario Bar. As his passion for the arts grew, Antoine put his legal career on hold, debuting in the Orpheus production of “Rent” in 2011 as a member of the ensemble and understudy for the role of Tom Collins. After moving to Tel Aviv, he burst into Israel’s English Language Theater as Seaweed J. Stubbs in “Hairspray,” followed by Audrey II in “Little Shop of Horrors,” Richie Walters in “A Chorus Line,” and in the spring of 2015 he appeared as Benjamin Coffin III in a concert version of Rent at the renowned Habima 4 stage in Tel Aviv and reprised the role of Benny in Starcatcher’s production of “RENT” in Jerusalem. You can also find him performing from time-to-time in the Tel Aviv-based cabaret act Showstoppers. He has now moved to Ottawa, Ontario where he is hard at work promoting his debut jazz album “Somewhere Along The Way” and starting work on his second full-length jazz album featuring a collection of original and jazz standards. Antoine is fast-becoming a multi-faceted performer in the entertainment industry: theater, television, motion pictures, and music.
