Avery Hartgrove was blessed with a unique passion for music at a young age. First being a drummer, he's exposed himself to all genre's of music. Jazz, R&B, Soul, Fusion, Gospel, Concert band, orchestras etc. It's guaranteed you will hear some form of these styles combined in his compositions. Music, art and creativity are free expressions, his view is simple when creating..."no limit, no boundaries". Just as many songwriters and composers, Avery's music tells a story, but unlike most songs with patterns and repetitions, his instrumentals take you on an adventure. You may start out in the Fall and he'll take you to Spring, back to Winter then right into Summer. His recording and producing style is unique as well, believing that whichever sound he is playing from the keyboard should represent that instrument authentically. One of the most amazing facts of this album is that 10 of the tracks were done using a low-end beginners keyboard, which he bought just to play around on when he went to college. As intricate as some of his compositions are on The Last Resort album, it's unbelievable to hear all the creativity with few tools, hence his "no limit, no boundaries" mentality. He recorded the drums on the album using an Electronic drum kit. This was not by choice but using what he had to reach his goal and make it as authentic as possible was the name of his game. The brush strokes on the intro track "Ave In" he recorded using one of his acoustic snares. Aside from music but still art, Avery created the cover artwork, which collectively shows him on each instrument Keyboard (far right), electronic drums (middle) and acoustic drums (far left) all pointing at each other enjoying music. So from soup to nuts this Last Resort project is way bigger than just a debut album, but a 4-1/2 year vision. When I was at a significant low point of my life- I had music as my Last Resort, and so much more that I didn't know at the time. And now, today, I finally see it all come to fruition. I pray those that hear the album but more importantly know my story will stop at nothing to reach their dreams and to forever be encouraged in the Lord.
