简介

Highlights of the album include the interplay between Matt Zigs and Joey Batts on the single "Stand Up." The duo have been freestyling together since they met at University of Hartford in 2000, and have an intellectual chemistry with a streetwise edge that's bound to keep any hip-hop head memorizing the numerous quotables (Kurtis Blow AND James Joyce get shouted out in the same sentence, ok?) Songs like "I'm Just Sayin'..." with its Sublime-esque chorus and punch-line lyrical delivery cater to the party crowd, while "Firecracker" brings a softer spoken rap love song of sorts for the Wu-Tang turned Bright Eyes fans out there. Even R&B fans will find sanctuary in Doron of The Smyrk's singing style on the remix of their funky-rock song "Cold Enough to Kill." Even at a distance, the sheer volume of stylistic variation - both in the emcees' deliveries and musical/instrumental choices for the beats -one can't help but be impressed by the diversity present in this album. Whether flamenco guitars and strings ("Distilled Lies") are your fancy, or dark Mobb Deep-ish pianos ("Chun-Tzu") are still getting you riled up, there is something here for you. Matt Zigs is formerly of the popular regional act The Silent Groove, which was named "Best Hip-Hop in Connecticut" by The Hartford Advocate 3 years in a row (2001-2004), toured regularly from Maine, to Pittsburgh, to Maryland, received national radio play on Radio 104 (WMRQ) along with numerous college stations nationwide, and gained a substantial fan base as independent artists. Zigs' new band (also featuring Joey Batts), The Zigs & Batts Circus (ZBC) is quickly filling the shoes, currently beginning to tour the northeast extensively. Matt Zigs currently is based in Hartford, Connecticut. DoublEE Records is an independent label located in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
