JoeZ is a rock'n'roll record. Plain and simple. There are all sorts of influences from various eras of rock leaving a finger print some where on this album. The song writing is witty and entertaining with quips, double entendres, hidden meanings, and humor. Numbers like 'it' and "Just Wanna" convey all of the aforementioned! JoeZ's vocal range is extremely varied, as noted in his self harmonizing choruses, like the song "Parasite", and backup singing on numerous tracks; though he tends to stay in that high blues belter voice reminiscent of Whitesnake era David Coverdale's high end with a little Dexter Holland of The Offspring as well. The rhythm section is "completely in the pocket" as some would call it, considering JoeZ played drums and overdubbed all of the bass guitar tracks by himself. The drums have a sound as if engineered by Michael Wagener during his production days with Extreme, Dokken, and White Lion. The bass itself booms and thumps in line with the kick drum as if their brain was one in the same. Don't think for an instant this is dated dinosaur rock based on the references above because tracks like the album opener, "I'd Listen...," as well as, "Your Love," and "Addiction" break new ground incorporating innovative guitar skills that create dubstep and techno esque soundscapes weaved into these rock tunes like they should have always been there. Speaking of guitar, this record is littered with heavy guitar lifting and pyrotechnics ala Edward Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt, Tom Morrello, Vitto Bratta, and Randy Rhoads. JoeZ's guitar playing influences are quite clear and create a sound all his own. Some notable songs for vivacious guitar work include "Her Touch," "Love & Luck," and "Untouchable." This album is self-contained lightening in a can from start to finish and no rock fan should miss the ride.
