简介

This album is a collection of EP's and previously unreleased tracks. The last three tracks feature Kody Jackon (Fabulous Badasses, Spitfire Tumbleweeds) on drums. This is probably the only place you can get a copy of these tunes as The Spiderbite EP is no longer in print and out of stock. These songs are ONLY available as downloads through iTunes and soon through txmfrecords.com For more on TXMF artists like Record Hop, go to txmfrecords.com circa 2004: Soaring, freaked out guitars and an air-tight, frenetic rhythm section...A band pounding out jagged Chicago angles smothered in a New York beautiful racket that could only come from Denton, Texas...Indie Rock attitude with an Arena Rock earache, while the ghosts of all your heartbroken moments videotape you from the corner...Record Hop comes on like an obsessive crush; Of course something about it makes no sense, but it won't let you go just the same. Quality rock n' roll for the discriminating music lover, Record Hop plays the soundtrack to your sexiest nightmares, not your drive to work. ***** From the North Texas Daily Band shoots for success Lyndsay Knecht Intern January 16, 2004 For some time now, there has been something missing in the Denton scene. Sure, there's art rock with heavy sampling. And there's spacey experimentation. Heck, there are enough frat-boy cover bands to keep John Mayer fans entertained for months. But, occasionally, the absence of pure, unadulterated rock 'n' roll can become so aggravating that one can't help but miss the days when things were simply that easy. Denton, take heart. RecordHop has come to the rescue. The explosion of abrasive guitars and smart rhythms is fronted by Dallas senior Ashley Cromeens, whose raspy voice and ferocious guitar style help redefine a girl's place in the rock community. Bassist Cory Ward, guitarist Scott Porter and drummer John McCintyre join her in what began as an unassuming side project. With a sound that the band describes as having a "sharp Chicago feel," RecordHop's sound hits hard among the more reserved acts that often share the stage. "There isn't one moment in any of our songs where we don't play really, really loud," Porter said. Despite recent success, Ward doesn't quite understand the phenomenon. "I feel weird all the time, 'cause I still think our music sounds weird," he said. Aaron Bartz, co-conspirator of an artists' community called the Metrognome Collective, explains the allure, describing RecordHop as "... raucous and sneering. A fine mix of noisy urgency and a skewed pop sensibility that makes you wanna wag your head and shoulders." And for Lance Yocum, president of Spune Productions, it was love at first listen. "I walked up to Scott Porter immediately after their show, introduced myself and said, 'There's demand to RecordHop ... call me if you're interested in Spune,' " Yocum says of his initial impression. And call Porter did. The booking agent, whose roster boasts Dallas-area powerhouses Red Animal War and The Danes, has big plans for the group. In fact, once Cromeens completes her responsibilities at NT, Spune will send the four-piece out to set the United States. on fire. "I'm confident that people will respond well to their music on the road," Yocum said. "It's only a matter of time before RecordHop is highly respected and praised by corporate rock." Spiderbite, RecordHop's five-song EP, has been picked up for distribution by Good Records and the quartet is slated to record its first full-length album at the Echolab in two weeks. It will be RecordHop's first time in a "real" studio, and Justin Collins of Burnt Sienna will help the band feel at home. Collins runs sound at Rubber Gloves and assisted RecordHop on Spiderbite along with Matthew Barnhart, who will produce the new album. With recent advances such as signing with Spune, the question poses itself: Will RecordHop's radio-readiness cause them to betray the underground? Porter is quick to assure otherwise. "[We] have no interest in sacrificing any amount of pure artistic freedom for any amount of cash", he said. "We'd just like to get more than 15 people to a show in Denton, Texas, before we worry about that." Three-fourths of RecordHop will appear as Guns N Roses at Doublewide on Jan. 22, a tribute that started as a Halloween tradition three years ago. "It's the only way I can get away with wearing leather pants," Ward said. For more go to www.recordhop.com
