简介

About The Color After nearly six years as a solo artist, singer-songwriter Jordan Janzen has reunited with old band-mates and continues to push deeper into the music scene. The new outfit, The Color released their debut self-titled album in March of 2012. Janzen's music career was originally sparked following a local talent search during his senior year of high school. With a newly formed band, Edge of Iris and the opportunity to tour with Juno Award winning artist Amanda Falk, it seemed the music world was beckoning. But the end of their first Canadian tour also saw the disbanding of Iris. Janzen continued to pursue a career in music, this time as a solo artist. Part of this journey took him to Toronto for the 'Hollywood' rounds of the sixth season of Canadian Idol in 2008, with his stint ending just short of the 'Top 20'. Encouraged by fellow contestants and Idol staff, and challenged by the level of talent he encountered, Janzen took home a renewed determination to forge ahead in his music career. After recording and co-producing his debut album, Crazy, with his dad in their home studio later that fall, Janzen went on to nab two Covenant award nominations while his single, "Cinderella" garnered international airplay, helping cement and spread his pop-rock sound across the globe. The high praise also gave Janzen the chance to share the stage with big name acts like Marianna's Trench, Thousand Foot Krutch and Jodi King. Then, in 2009, a shift in vocation reunited Janzen and former Edge of Iris bandmate James Shiels. After reconnecting over coffee and old memories, the two began writing what would unknowingly become The Color's debut album. Jordan Janzen Band alumni, Gabe Boschmann, Jordan Banman, Ken Janzen and Tyler Martens also added their musical input to the writing process. With a mosaic of musical backgrounds and a broadened perspective in their full band writing approach, a new sound started to take shape. With intentions of recording an album but a desire to achieve a more professional sound, it wasn't until Canadian producer and drummer Jay Tooke began pursuing The Color that things were set in motion. Tooke discovered the band while sitting back stage at a Winkler show, and was left stunned by the potential in the young opener's voice as well as the melodic songwriting and catchy riffs. The Color officially entered the studio in early 2011 to begin recording their debut album, one that producer Tooke calls, "One of the best new rock records to come out in the last ten years." The album reached new heights when Grammy Award winning producer and sound engineer, Howard Willing, offered to mix the album in L.A.. Willing's work on the album led to the opportunity of having it mastered by Rob Vosgien at Capitol Records. The result of Willing and Vosgien's expertise far exceeded anyone's expectations and it was fair to say that the "more professional sound" had been accomplished. With the addition of the multi talented Larry Abrams on bass, 2012 has seen continued progress for The Color as they develop a presence, both onstage and on the airwaves, with a continually growing fan-base, that has begun to stretch outside their borders. Onstage highlights include a tour across Western Canada to promote the release of the record, opening for established bands such as Kiros, Spoken, and The Hunter Brothers, finishing 2nd place, out of 45 bands, at the 2012 Lifelight Festival Talent Search in Sioux Falls, SD and, most recently, they spent two weeks on the road, in May of 2013, with Starfield's Tim Neufeld to promote the release of his debut solo release 'Trees'. Offstage, The Color has also begun to see movement as they charted Number 1 on More Radio’s September 2012 Top 5 CHR Charts with their first single, ‘Made To Be’. 'Made To Be' also reached number 11 on Life 100.3 FM's The Slam. Their second release, 'Raindrops', which features Jodi King from the new pop outfit 'Love and The Outcome, has currently held strong on the CCRC for 7 weeks. In October 2012, The Color was nominated for five GMA Covenant Awards, from which they won three. Most notably of which was 'New Artist of The Year'. In an industry steeped in easy answers and feel-good refrains, The Color now represents five musicians who've found their voice. Ready to make a mark across the soundscape of pop/rock music, The Color is bringing songs of hope, energy and greater purpose as they seek to bring a little color to the airwaves.
