简介
Joe Gianono 1. OHANA 02:00 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) Slow, emotional expansive String melody with French Horn counter- melody and suspended chords. Reminiscent of “Out Of Africa”. In the Hawaiian language Ohana means “family”. 2. ONE LAST LOOK FOR CHIEF THUNDER CLOUD 02:32 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) The title of this piece is descriptive enough to allow you to draw your own conclusions. At the risk of seeming flighty and over artistic, I will describe how this piece came to be. I thought I had invented the name but then soon realized that surely there must have been a real Chief Thunder Cloud somewhere in history, aside from the character name in the old TV show, “The Lone Ranger”, which I also discovered after the fact. One night I was reading about a form that seems to be very prevalent in many hit songs and other things in our world. Two important elements of its success are familiarity and repetition. I woke up 4 times in the middle of that night. Each time I would hear this melody and it would not go away. Who knows, maybe the real Chief Thunder Cloud was channeling me. Or maybe my 3 Act Native American Indian ballet, SAYADIO AND THE MAGIC CUP, was on my mind. Maybe it has something to do with the contentious pipeline and the Native American Indians, for whom I have a great fascination. I’m going with the last scenario, which seems rather timely. 3. SOMEBODY MARRY ME, PLEASE 01:44 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A romantic comedy-like theme with a Jewish, Italian flavor that features Clarinet, Accordion and Mandolin. It includes a romantic String theme. 4. A VERY SLIPPERY SLOPE 02:29 (Rebekah M. Music/ ASCAP) Ethereal Trumpets echoing, slow and darkly religious in tone with Orchestra, Choir and Organ entering at the end. 5. VIENNESE DELIRIUM WALTZ 01:32 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A tonaly bizarre Intro and waltz transitions into a traditional Viennese waltz. Piano featured. 6. ENCHANTED IN WONDERLAND 01:25 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A beautiful peaceful and enchanted place most of the time. “Go ask Alice”. 7. TOO FAR FROM THE TRUTH 02:04 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) Ethereal, uncertainty and questions floating everywhere. Lush Ravelian swelling Violas and Cellos passages. Solo instruments weaving in and out. 8. BEYOND ROOM 351 01:00 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) Fate knocks, a portal bursts open and a panorama is before you. Soaring Strings and Horns. 9. THE CONFLICT OF WAR 03:02 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A profoundly religious orchestral hymn ending in anxiety. “Pathetique”. The conflict between war and peace. “Ah, you don’t believe we're on the Eve of Destruction”. The sound effects that tell the ultimate story were written as part of the composition. A direct reference should be made to our current world. 10. THE CONFLICT OF WAR (Orchestra track only) 03:02 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) 11. THE CONFLICT OF WAR (Sound effects track only) 03:02 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) 12. SOMEWHERE, SOMEHOW 02:08 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) Solo instrument texture leads into big orchestral heralding crescendos, soaring String melody with a backbeat. 13. FOR MICKEY (Of Hopes And Dreams) 00:52 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A warm, reassuring Piano melody followed by a String melody with Horns and Harp. Dedicated to Mickey Leonard, who was a friend and mentor. 14. THE SNOW BIRDS 01:33 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A tribute to the members of The Snow Birds of the Canadian Air Force. Powerful Brass anthem followed by assertive melody with rhythm section. 15. DIGERIDOO KINGDOM 01:30 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A visit to the Australian Outback. Didgeridoo, Percussion and unison String melody including jungle effects 16. SPRING RAIN 01:20 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A gentle Guitar melody with glimpses of the sun glistening through. 17. THE STALKER 01:35 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A mixture of a Percussion background and daunting melody suggesting the intention of predatory urban violence. 18. THE STALKER CANON 01:24 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) Similar in intent to Stalker with canonic instrumental passages 19. THE STALKER CANON Lite 01:24 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A lighter, thinner textured version of Stalker Canon 20. CONSTELLATION PASS BY 02:04 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) In a constellation watching colossal orbs and planets floating by with a slow, celestial, peaceful synth pulse. 21. VINNY TALKED TOO MUCH 02:35 (Joe Gianono Music Publishing/ ASCAP) A dark, drone-like suspense scenario with sound effects. Vinny hides, is discovered and then terminated by members of the “family”. 22. SPIKE ME DOWN LOW 02:06 (Rebekah M. Music/ ASCAP) Old style fun, wacky Sax with muted Brass. Reminiscent of Spike Jones and Paul Whiteman. This track was recoded with an authentic 1928 Carl Fischer Drum set. 23. SMALL CRAFT WARNINGS (Bonus Track) 03:15 (Rebekah M. Music/ ASCAP) Main theme for the White Horse Theater Company production of Small Craft Warnings by Tennessee Williams. Originally written for Viola and Piano, this version is play by Violinist, Luellen Abdoo and Pianist, Elaine Chelton and is the version broadcast on the syndicated radio program, Exploring Music hosted by Bill McGloughlin on WQXR. The play Small Craft Warnings might be thought of as an analogy between a maritime term and the sometimes perilous or fragile nature of people's lives, especially these 9 lives. Unfortunately the players are people, not cats. Once they hit the rocks there aren't many second chances. The viola (opt. Violin) melody with its fragile character floats endlessly over the piano accompaniment. The occasional stops and starts suggest caution. Most of the maritime imagery is incorporated into the piano accompaniment. One can sense the deceptiveness of seemingly calm waters at every turn. Special thanks to Jeff Roszkowski for convincing me to include this track.
