A cellist and an educator, Şölen Dikener continues his musical and academic career in the United States; however, he has maintained connection with his native country of Turkey and contributed in preserving the music of his country. He is particularly interested in Turkish composers whose solo cello and chamber music works have never been recorded. He collaborates with his colleagues in Turkey and USA for the presentation of such works. Likewise, the violist Çetin Aydar, pianist Kamerhan Turan, and violinist Elizabeth Reed Smith shared the same goal and completed the recordings in this album which features the world premier recordings of three works by Turkish composers Ahmet Adnan Saygun, Necil Kazım Akses, and Ilhan Baran. When we decided to include the cello work by Kamran Ince in this collection, we created a compilation that is not only valuable for the audience but also for the music students.
