简介
I’m from a city on the coast of Baltic Sea where it rains about 300 days a year. I picked up piano at the age of 3, started writing songs at 13. Other than music, I get my kicks from sailing, acro yoga, and a pint of ice-cold beer. Action photography is my latest passion. I’m an incurable dreamer and I’ve always wanted to live in New York, but seem to be getting there with a massive detour: after spending 12 years in Dubai, I fell in love with Australia and moved to Melbourne where I currently live. At age 14 I landed my first job as a church organist, 16 came musical theatre, and a few jazz festivals with the backing of a full big band at age 18. Moving to UAE changed things around a lot. Jazz scene didn’t exist back in 2001, so I ended up singing a lot of covers, because that’s what people wanted to hear. I used to joke having sold out, but eventually it all was an important part of this whole experience. After many years of singing covers and jazz standards, writing original music again was something that just naturally happened. The moment I received the master of the first song, I decided this is what I really want to do. The EP is a preview of the upcoming album "Overrated Soulmate Business" that was inspired by the transient life of a big city. The title track "Fortune Frames of Time" (my fancy term for moments) is about wrong impressions, judging people without knowing the experiences that lead them to be the way they are at the exact moment you meet them. "Restless" is the first song that made it to the record, portraying a post-break up dialogue that goes on in one's head; music arrangement was inspired by Amy Winehouse's records and the soundtracks of James Bond movies. "World of Faded Shades" stands for lucid dreaming and the song was so challenging to record that almost saw the recycle bin. "Borderline Charms" is about indecisive people and has a reality check feel in the lyrics; musical take was "...so a band is just casually jamming with a church choir echoing in the background". "A Night in Hundred Years" is a sweet ballad originally written for only a piano and a string quartet, trying to capture a magic of a single night.
