简介

Bad Habitat has been busy. Since releasing their debut full length album “Scissor Tree” last summer, they’ve toured the west coast with underground rap legend 2Mex, packed a couple dozen shows throughout the greater Portland area, including opening gigs for superstars such as Pharoahe Monch and Gift of Gab, and seemingly tripled their fanbase and presence in the local hip hop scene. And all the while, they’ve been dillegently working behind the scenes on their official follow up album, entitled “Paper People” Referred to within the group as Part Two in the “Roshambo Trilogy”, “Paper People” finds Bad Habitat at possibly the cleanest they’ve ever sounded. Sharp punchlines and creative syllable play highlight the groups love for classic, sample based hip hop instrumentals, once again primarily provided in house from member Matt Murdock (Formerly Damian Grey/Trafek). Content wise, Bad Habitat once again caters to the blue collar bar scene, blending their brand of aggressive hip hop with punk and classic rock. Songs such as “Drunk and Loud” and “Aeronautics” pay tribute to favorite passtimes, while “Dick and Jane” is a hyberbolic tale of groupies gone wild. "Skin Deep" and "Upton Sinclair" erect stages on which Bad Habitat displays their lyrical prowess, contrasting other songs, such as “Shangri-La” "Stump Town" and “Satisfied”, which dig a little deeper, painting backdrops on the various members experiences growing up lower class in the Northwest. Throughout it all, Bad Habitat keeps the energy level high, providing an audible comparison to their incredibly dynamic live performance. Guest appearances this time around include Northwest notables Randal Wyatt (Speaker Minds) and Big Bang, as well as frequent collaboration partners Nefarious XO and Southeast. Two of the albums more anthem-like songs, "Drunk and Loud" and "Dick and Jane" feature choruses by Scotty Preston(Chicharones Band/ Big Bang/ Raise the Bridges) and Northwest underground favorite Cordell Drake, respectively. And once again, when female vocals are required, fellow Surreal Music founding artist Angela Foster handles them soulfully and flawlessly. Originally planned as an 8 track EP, Bad Habitat found themselves inspired during the production of "Paper People" and the album has since been expanded into a full-length project, boasting 13 brand new songs and 2 remixes. released July 16, 2013 All tracks produced by Trafek aka Matt Murdock except 3,7 (Anno Domini), 9 (J-Hoch) and 15 (Sabzi).
