简介
A NOTE ON HAVING FUN AT 71: This second collection of original tunes was conceived as barebones guitar/vocal, along the lines of my maiden effort; "PLAIN AND NOTHIN' FANCY". On the recommendation of Michael Miller, I was in the studio @ Pacifica, checking out the revitalized former Steve Miller facility, when Dennis Dragon said, kinda offhand, “I hear brushes on this tune...” That led to Dennis setting up his drums, me recruiting Gary Creek to play bass and guitar, adding players from all over the Rogue Valley and here you have the result; “LOST & FOUND”, the CD that just grew. Those who are familiar with my stuff will recognize the mix of political and personal. Relatively new to song-writing following a forty year career in the theatre and well launched into my eighth decade, I don’t have time for a June, Moon, Spoon, La, Lala, Laa, Laa phase. Gotta cut to the chase. So that’s what you get here and what you can expect from me until, as I write in “Why I Sing”, “....they pry this guitar from my cold, dead fingers...” Dennis offered his lifetime of expertise to this project without being asked because he ”liked the message.” THIS IS NO TIME TO BE SILENT, COMPLACENT OR ACQUIESCENT. THE MUSICIANS: PATRICK TOVATT: Guitar & vocals DENNIS DRAGON: Drums & percussion GARY CREEK: bass, acoustic guitar, elec. guitar on track 4, keyboard on track 8 BOB JACKSON MINER: Harmonica BARNEY PAUL: Electric guitar DENNIS FREESE: Clarinet & flute CRYSTAL REEVES: Viola & violin, KAMIE CLARKE: Additional vocals on track 7 THE SALON SINGERS: Debbie Bish, Jessica Bryan, Kathryn J. Casternovia, Kamie Clarke, Tom Clunie, Gary Creek, Daniel Tovatt THANKS: To my beautiful #1 fan, Judy Lang: to Daniel Tovatt, who gamely suffered through innumerable repetitions of theses tunes; to Aluna Michelle for leaving her vegetables to come out and play; to Olaf Soderback. Special thanks to Mike Miller for hooking me up with Dennis Dragon. Thanks to Richard Colombo and CAFÉ ARTICHOKE, where many of these songs were heard for the first time.
