Portland, Oregon-based, Happy For No Reason celebrates the release of their self-titled, debut full-length CD. Happy For No Reason is the propitious coming together of these three musicians: Jo Alexis on vocals, Neil Goldstein on guitar, and Mark Pritchard on flute. The combination allows for a unique sound reminiscent of Bebel Gilberto and Sinead O’Connor. The group emphasizes improvisation as a modality in performance and as a means of birthing new songs. Jo Alexis Bronstein and Neil Goldstein co-write the music. They are joined by veteran Australian flute player, Mark Pritchard. Goldstein plays finger-style guitar and sings back up. Jo Alexis plays percussion and sings lead vocals. Happy For No Reason shows their passion in the self-healing, organic, natural beauty of the music and its connection to spirituality is evident in many of the cuts.
