The mid-90s. As Blur and Oasis battled it out with the Spice Girls for chart domination, one band was pushing the envelope and creating new and wonderful forms of musical expression, using as yet unheard-of instruments and time signatures in a neo-psychedelic blend of styles. And while they were doing that, Strain were busy thrashing out their heads-down melodic punk rock to anybody within earshot (which was quite a long way). Either ahead of their time or behind it, depending on how you look at it (or how old you are), they were critically adored but commercially ignored by all but the lucky few in the know, releasing four singles and an album to quiet acclaim. Kerrang! loved them, and the NME said they "rock like gods". Here you can find their sole album on digital download for the first time, bolstered by the non-album singles and b-sides, demos for what would have become the second album, and a rare live track.
