简介
Durham, North Carolina-born musician Joe MacPhail has been turning heads and bending ears with North-Carolina Bands Rebekah Todd & The Odyssey, The Grand Shell Game, The Oblations, and Matt Phillips & The Philharmonic. Joe is a Classically trained Pianist who taught himself Blues and has taken an extended visit into the world of Jazz, but he is also a self-taught Funk/Rock/Hip Hop/Blues/Pop Drummer, an occasional bassist, and a Singer/Songwriter with growing power and control over his voice. These identities all combine on this accurately titled collection of songs, self-recorded, performed, and self-produced in dorm rooms and basements. The album is a journey through different moods and atmospheres, beginning as an instrumental funk project, slowly revealing a nostalgia and dark underbelly, then ending with a duo of meditative piano songs. The Blues serves as the musical thread which binds the album together, and the Piano in all of its manifestations serves as the vehicle with which the story is written. There is no autotune, no quantitizing, no ghost musicians. There is just one man, one computer, and a whole lot of instruments. I hope you enjoy the end result!
