Roy Kim, otherwise known as 'Chan' or 'Snacky Chan,' is a hip hop emcee originally hailing from New Jersey, currently doing his thing in Boston, Massachussetts. Chan has established himself over the years as an emcee with 'true to the art' skills, proving his abilities in underground hip hop venues across the country. Hip Hop afficianados first took notice of Chan when he dropped his first 12"(vinyl) offering, 'Politickin w/ Chan,' b/w 'Big in Japan,' in September of '01 on Detonator Records. 'Chairman Mao,' music critic/reviewer at XXL magazine went so far as to say that "...Chan is the rugged-est, most skilled Asian-American MC I've heard yet - actually, he's pretty d**e on any scale..." Chan's songs have also featured on well known, and critically acclaimed compilation albums including the Detonator Records 'Volume 1' Compilation, as well as 'Home,' an album boasting a fine collection of the Beantown's hottest upcoming and veteran talents. As a result of Chan's hard work in '01, he was nominated 'Best New Rap/Hip-Hop Act,' in the 15th annual Boston Music Awards.
