简介
Amy is a pianist, harpist, accordionist, vocalist, and penny whistle player. Known for her accordion playing, lead singing and writing with celtic band Mad Pudding for many years, she currently performs solo, and in duo with her husband, Persian traditional singer Amir Haghighi. She is also a member of Jou Tou, (a world music quartet led by Andre Thibault, with Qiu Xia He and Joseph Pepe Danza) and Tzimmes (a progressive klezmer-fusion band led by Moshe Denburg). Based in Vancouver, Canada, where she grew up, Amy has toured extensively through North America and Europe. At home she often performs as a guest artist, playing harp or performing a solo set with various groups including the Vancouver Chamber Choir, musica intima, Elektra Women's Chorus, Laudate Singers, and many others. She is also a popular studio musician, having played on countless recordings and soundtracks. Amy grew up in a musical family, listening to Scottish dance music and English songs (sung around the piano in four-part harmony) in a strong mix, which might explain why today she is playing celtic traditional music and directing choral music. Amy directs three adult choirs and two children's choirs. Her passion for composing and arranging is put to use through all of these musical venues, and her choral compositions, which have been commissioned by groups as diverse as musica intima and the Baha'i Community, are distributed internationally by Cypress Publishing. Amy was featured as a composer in the Canadian award-winning documentary "Music for New World" which aired on Bravo! and other channels. Some performance highlights have included Glasgow Folk Festival, Shetland Festival, in Scotland, Skagen Festival in Denmark, Celtic Colours in Nova Scotia, Winnipeg, Frostbite, and Vancouver Folk Festivals in Canada, The Kennedy Centre, San Francisco Celtic Festival and Blissfest in the USA.
