简介
Catherine Cavanagh will tell you that her reasons for making a new album are personal and firmly denies the new songs are a “response” to Christina Aguilera’s latest two-disc statement. Catherine is Chop Chop’s singer, songwriter and [instrument-player]. She got help on this album from a few drunk, wayward Boston musicians she lured into her attic studio for an occasional session. Catherine’s bandmates are Chris Cupcake who plays bass, Carlos Cola XXII on drums, and CC Moniker on guitar. Screens is the name of Chop Chop’s new album. Like its predecessor, the songs combine pop, rock, and electronica, with influences ranging from the 1930s to the Bee Gees to Run DMC. This time around, quaintly analog instruments like the French horn, a keymonica, and a toy Zylophone have been tossed into the mix alongside cranky, craggy digital synthesizers and electric guitars. Screens will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you dance, it will haunt you and mysteriously force its way to the beginning of your iPod shuffle queue.
