An original collision of songs from New York City and a British brass band from Yorkshire! A few years ago a vivid memory popped into my head: I was standing by my garden wall in Newcastle, North of England, barely a teenager, and I heard the sound of a brass band coming towards me from a distance. Evocative and mournful, the sound was full of richness and dark tones that were enhanced further by the damp Northumbrian air. ...so I decided to record my new album with a brass band, recapturing the feeling that mesmerized me years ago! I have lived in New York for many years and I went to the small town of Brighouse in Yorkshire, England and recorded my album with The Brighouse & Rastrick Band - probably the best known brass band in Britain! As well as The B&R Band the album features duets with Joe Jackson, James Maddock (Wood) and Adam Masterson and was mixed by Paul Evans of Bedroom Community and Patrick Phillips at Real World Studios.
