Recently wrapping up a conservative tour on the west coast, Varona returned to the studio, releasing their 2nd gem in 4 years, Egoist (2009). Varona's line up consists of electric and acoustic guitars, vocals, drums, percussion, saxes, clarinet, bass, and keys. Combining elements of John Zorn's avant-garde arrangements, Gogol Bordello's charisma, and the international smatterings of Devotchka. Varona's tribal rhythms, melodic grooves, and angsty-yet strikingly beautiful lyrics are an energetic mash up of styles and cultures.
