Sara Jelley has been waiting to make this CD for 11 years, and the soul she poured into it is evident. All of the five songs came from the most honest places inside, and she hopes the music will help the listener find some honesty inside themselves. The first four songs are completely original and based on finding the joy in each moment. The last song is pure devotion to the source of that joy. The title track, "Lay Down Easy", is a call to all humans to take each day and night in stride, and enjoy it with ease. She wrote it for herself as a reminder to chill out. Jonathan Sadler adds his flair on cajon. "Blue Flame" is a personification of the life-changing inspiration that came from sitting in front of a fire one night in Colorado with friends. "Stay Right Here" was written for Sara's mother who passed away when she was young, and the feeling that there is 'no place like home'. There may never be a 'home' again, but that is beautiful. "When I'm With Him" is an ode to the attractiveness of a lover, of the divine, of a place in time. It features Saja Butler on backing vocals. "Twameva/How Can I Keep from Singing?" is a sanskrit chant mash-up with Sara's favorite baptist hymn, sung to her as a child. They were meant to be sung together. This song is arranged by Sara and recorded in kirtan style with her friends Lela Clawson-Miller on harmonium and backing vocals and Jonathan Sadler on tabla. This EP was mixed and recorded by Saja Butler at Urban Monk Studios in Fort Collins, Colorado. It was mastered by Joel Katz at Seaside Recording Studio in Maui, Hawaii.
