The Day Before Yesterday is Old Oaks first full band, studio release. The album carries a smooth acoustic, yet groovy vibe with charismatic, thought provoking lyrics. Moments of ripping saxophones solos over jazz progressions are complemented by solo 12-string guitar interludes to create an intimate and emotional sonic atmosphere held together by a formidable upright bass performance. The Day Before Yesterday is meant to be understood like a memory that's on the tip of your tongue. To dive deeper, it's a frequent feeling of "Ya, I just did that...oh wait that was like five years ago" but at the same time "Oh ya that was a long time ago....oh wait that was yesterday...or the Day Before Yesterday." Doesn't NYE 2019/20 feel like the Day Before Yesterday? It does to me. Not to mention, this line is placed in the EP's first song, Light as a Feather.
