简介
"Psychedelic-Folk-Revival" "Songs that span the human condition". Avante-garde Appalachian traditionals, orchestral compositions, southern blues rock, topical and raw observations of life all sung in Rand's own inimitable style. Rands composition background is apparent in the rich crafting of these songs. Her compositions have been compared to Aaron Copland. Her voice was dubbed "hair-raising" by pulitzer prize winning poet Gary Snyder. The title derives from the medicinal quality of Rand's muse: some goes down easy (Hummingbirds), some stirs & stimulates (Snake Oil). The players: Joanne Rand (acoustic guitars, keyboards, vocals); Brad Cox & Jack Springett (drums); Ken Braziel (bass); Robert Franklin (acoustic & electric guitars); Gregg Moore (trombone); Cassie Moultin & Michael Fecskes (cello); Jim Hurley (violin); Joyce Hough (harmony vocals); Tim Gray (street noises). Co-produced by Joanne Rand and Stephen Hart (President of the San Francisco chapter of the Recording Academy).
