简介
Many bands embrace evil imagery to create a heir of "darkness" and "brutality." Countless are the band's who feign darkness and despair--as it seems the more bands attempt to use it to their advantage, the more it backfires. There are bands who use evil and aggression as a facade to garner a following in their local scenes and then there are bands like A Wake in Providence, who don't simply use darkness, they redefine it. Combining marvelous metallic riffs with crushing breakdowns and shrill, sinister vocals to create an intense onslaught unlike any other band in the heavy music scene, A Wake in Providence are vile enough to make sewers look clean, and vicious enough to tear the still-beating heart out of the listener's chest. Forming in the depths of New York City in 2010, A Wake in Providence took humble beginnings and a desire to make unfathomably aggressive music and turned it into one of the state's most successful and renowned acts. The band spent their early years quietly creating music and playing as local support for touring heavyweights of the genre until finally, they built up enough momentum to release their debut EP, Serpents in late 2012. Serpents sent the band's reputation skyward, giving them the street cred they needed to schedule DIY touring routes ambitious enough to live up to their remarkable work ethic and unquenchable thirst to bring live music to their fanbase. Relentless touring, along with the release of their November 2013 single, "Psycho," would be enough to sell over 1,000 of their independently released and produced EP, as well as garner them attention from some of heavy music's biggest names. 2014 saw A Wake in Providence as regional winners of Sumerian Records' "Headbang for the Highway" competition--furthering not just their local notoriety, but their national presence as well. Fast forward to 2015, and things continue to look up for this New York quintet. Winners of Artery Records' monthly unsigned artist competition and recording time in the studio for their June 2015 EP, Insidious proves that this young band refuse to waste a single second when it comes to giving their fans and the American heavy music community the finest and most brutal material they have to offer. With a groundbreaking release around the corner, and the band's die-hard work ethic and dedication to their fans, A Wake in Providence are a tidal wave sure to be swallowing a venue near you soon.
