简介
Katie Campbell is a true Los Angeles native! Born into a musical family, Katie spent her youth in piano lessons, dance classes, and putting on shows in her parents' kitchen. Katie's career began in musical theater, she then explored the jazz world, and has now entered the next stage in her development as an artist with her debut solo CD entitled, "END OF THE BEGINNING." This record marks her debut as a songwriter, incorporates all her many influences and passions, and features Fletcher Sheridan as an arranger and a producer. Katie has a wide range as a singer and musician. She can be heard singing on Bobby McFerrin’s Grammy-nominated album “VOCAbuLarieS”, a number of choral film scores, and has toured as a backing vocalist with Sheryl Crow. Katie has also sung with Elvis Costello, Stevie Wonder, Louis Price, Ziggy Marley, and had the opportunity to perform for Sir George Martin at a tribute to him given by The Grammy Foundation. Katie is currently a recording artist with "BuySoundTrax Records" (www.buysoundtrax.com), and can be heard singing on many of their tracks on iTunes. Up until now, Katie has mostly been known as a jazz singer, having been featured with "The Wee Trio" (New York City), the "New West Guitar" Quartet (Los Angeles), "San Gabriel Seven" (Pasadena), and most recently as the lead soprano in the LA-based jazz/funk ensemble “The Ron McCurdy Collective”. Katie was the female stand-by in the off-Broadway show “Loudmouth” with the acappella group "Toxic Audio", and also toured throughout the Caribbean and Mexico with "Toxic Audio". Katie's debut television performance was on the 49th Annual Grammy Awards singing with Gnarls Barkley, and debut film performance was as a dancer in “Seven Days of Grace” (as Kathryn Campbell). Katie has performed throughout the United States, Europe, South Africa, and most recently in Seoul, South Korea as a performer and clinician. In addition to being a skilled and versatile singer, Katie is a member and artist in Tony Sears’ acting workshop “The Physics of Acting”. She has performed in a couple Kyle Cowgill short films, and looks forward to writing her own projects! Katie earned her Bachelor of Music degree in “Jazz Studies” from Western Michigan University where she performed and toured throughout the United States, Europe, and South Africa with "Gold Company". While a student at WMU she earned the 2004 Downbeat Magazine award for "Best Collegiate Jazz Vocalist". Katie currently teaches for the Bachelor Degree Program at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. ABOUT THE CD: All tracks recorded at "The Pie" studios in Pasadena, CA. Katie, the singer, weaves a story musically that touches my soul. Katie, the person, is a lovely lady whose passion, talent and hard work inspires. She is a doll!!” -- Jim DeAngelo, Actor “When I first heard Katie on recording I thought she was great. When I finally had the opportunity to work with her I knew she was magical! Aside from her clear, beautiful tone, she is capable of performing anything- She challenges me as a composer to think outside the box in terms of what is possible for the human voice. As a professional, her work ethic breaks all the “singer” stereotypes. As a human being Katie Campbell is passionate, expressive, and one of the most intuitive souls I have ever known. She is a joy to work with, and a joy to know.” -- Matt Roberts, Guitarist/Composer "Katie's great in the studio: fast, efficient, accurate, and a pleasure to work with. One of the things I like best about her is that she gets it fast and right: so "right" that very little - if any - editing is required. In these "Pro-Tools-Times" the post-session editing is a given, because we can! But with Katie, I seldom have to spend any time after the session. I wish there were more singers like her... ....pretty cute, too...." -- Roger Treece, Composer/Arranger/Producer/Singer "Kathryn Campbell has one of the best voices around. It's musical, pure and extremely lovely. But it doesn't stop there- she knows what a lyric is and tells the story to her audience. I had the wonderful experience of working with her last year on my show PLAY IT COOL and hearing her sing and watching her act and dance was one of the highlights of the show for me." -- Mark Winkler, Singer/Lyricist “Katie is equally at home in a Broadway belt or a lightning fast jazz solo. With accuracy and agility, Katie leaps registers with extreme grace. She has an innate musical ability, which is immensely enhanced by her discipline and great work ethic. Katie is a quick study, extremely bright, and a joy to teach.” -- Sunny Wilkinson, Jazz Singer/Teacher "Katie Campbell is a superb singer, musician and performer. Her voice is extraordinarily versatile - in terms of range and styles - as she sings jazz, pop, musical theatre and classical literature in solo and group settings with equal authenticity and veracity. In addition to her accomplished musicianship, Katie is delightful to work with and a real 'pro' in every sense of the word." -- Dr. Steve Zegree, Bobby McFerrin Professor of Jazz at Western Michigan University
