The Holman Climax (originally Climax) Male Voice Choir was formed in 1940 at the Climax Rock Drill and Engineering works at Pool between Camborne and Redruth, Cornwall. The company was involved in manufacturing machinery for use in the tin mines. Sadly the engineering firms no longer exist but evidence of the mining industry is visible in many parts of Cornwall. Our Musical Director, Andrew Thomas, comes from a long line of musicians; his father was a member of the Choir for many years. Andrew was, for many years, Director of stage shows at the Princess Pavilion Falmouth and a singing member of the Choir before taking over the baton. Our Accompanist Ria Clemens, a music teacher, has added to the musical leadership of the Choir. This CD reflects the various styles of Music from traditional to the 60’s and even more modern popular items, performed by the Choir in concerts all round Cornwall and beyond.
