简介
I try not to give listeners the typical "rap" music we have become accustomed to from this generation of young people. The lyrics and vibe I strive to give off takes you toward a traditional hip hop feel, and relates on a more personal level. This 8-track, project opens up with “Welcome (Intro),” an inquisitive song welcoming listeners to an new experience. You hear a scratchy-southern voice spelling out Kidd Napp, over a old school 808 type of beat as it begins to build. His voice escalates as the track progresses, it’s as if he’s not only speaking to his listeners but speaking to himself. Remaining true to the "The Southern Rapper" style, while bringing you lyrics to paint pictures. I close out the project in reflection of life. Being raised in a single parent home in the poverty stricken streets of Jackson, Mississippi I relive stories of my mother in "Count Me Out" and representing my city in a positive light in "For the City". Due to being fatherless for the majority of my life, poor, and having served in the United States Army as an escape of falling into the trap of being stagnant, I reflect on life as I know it in "Life (Outro)". The idea of this project along with the Album Art, is to acknowledge the fact that we are all under construction. We are taught that the road to success is a path of impossible obstacles and you will most likely lose yourself navigating down that road. However, I believe that the path to success has been laid by the people we admire before us, and left for the next person to continue and in the process leave an exit along the way for others to follow just as they did.
