Good day to you, pathetic soul... I am the devil. Let me tell you what you do not already know. Minneapolis, Minnesota has long been hailed as having one of the most intricate and under-appreciated music scenes in the United States. From the long-gone days of Prince and Soul Asylum, to the more recent kids in the scene such as The Hold Steady and Solid Gold, we have always been blessed (did I just say 'blessed'? I did. Sorry about that...) with a veritable hot-bed of musical talent. Today is no different than days gone by. To prove this without question, I (the devil) chose to hand-pick the 10 BEST bands I have seen in my travels and compile them all onto one disc, and I've done it for the simple sake of sharing their talent with you, dear reader. I know what you're thinking, "But, Mr. Devil! That's been done a hundred times before! Why should I care about THIS compilation?!?" Well, shut up and let me tell you! It's like this. We understand that most compilation albums suck from the start. Ours is different. We narrowed the scene down to 10 bands that put people’s jaws on the floor. Bands that have that divine ability to unfurl tongues and stave off the simple act of blinking an eye. We chose bands that kicked our a**, and we’re going to let them kick yours next. We didn’t charge them to be a part of this. We asked them. We then brought each of the bands into Arctic Studios in Minneapolis to record an exclusive track for the compilation. Yes, exclusive. That means that there’s NEW music, sh*t you’ve NEVER HEARD BEFORE, sh*t you won’t be able to get ANYWHERE ELSE. We are also including ANOTHER song from each band’s existing catalog so you can really get to know each of the contributing artists. It’s a blasphemously big deal. 20 Tracks in all, 'The Devil's Basement - Unlocked' contains 10 EXCLUSIVE RECORDINGS from 10 different artists. That's right, we brought 10 bands into our studio and recorded NEW MATERIAL for this. In addition, we've ALSO included ANOTHER song from each artist's existing catalog! With old-school punk mainstay, Big F**kin Skull, and the likes of touring heavy-weight All the Pretty Horses, you can rest assured you're getting the finest of the Minneapolis music scene.
