Today many people may speculate that solo artist have the best chance of success. Many believe that multiple egos and personalities make it hard to co-exist in the music world. However, in an era where it may seem like music groups are becoming a thing of the past, D3 is crashing against the tide. They are an underground hip-hop group rising out of the depths of Mississippi. The group had humble beginnings in a small community south of Decatur, MS. J-Kidd (John Kidd) is Mississippi born and raised, while Dainadame (Damien Holden) and Young Guy (Deiguyrus Holden) are originally from Joliet, Illinois. The trio has a unique array of talents that would normally clash; however, when the three men are together it generates a sound incorporative of hip hop, jazz, soul, the typical club banger, and more. Dame and Guy moved to Mississippi in 1996 and fell right in touch with the community where they met J-Kidd. As the three became close knit as friends, they nurtured their musical talent throughout the course of their adolescent and teenage years. The guys quickly discovered that music sounded better when they made it together. D3 officially cemented their name in 2006 and purchased the proper equipment to build an in-house studio where they produced and recorded their own tracks. Since then, D3 has been working and making connections within the music realm. The group has had songs in radio rotation spanning from central Mississippi, central Alabama, south Alabama, Central Louisiana, and northern Florida. D3 has dropped numerous mixtapes and songs. A few of their mixtapes that can be found online are: "Day of Recognition", "Southern Diversity", and "Most Anticipated". After listening to just a few bars, fans and critics can agree that “D3 has a unique, hard-hitting sound that can revive this generation’s enthusiasm for group-made music.” The three strive towards placing their name amongst the ranks of artists such as De La Soul, Bone Thugs n Harmony, and A Tribe Called Quest. So while the rest of the industry may seem to move away from the idea of sharing credit, D3 fights to be living proof that anything is better when done with your friends, and simply because you love it.
