Inspirational!” </I><B>(Bob Dickinson, composer).</B> <BR> <BR> <I>“I would say George Oakley is particularly true of composers” </I><B>(Jay Nordlinger, music critic).</B> <BR> Mr. Oakley’s compositions for piano <I>“Nostalgia & Toccata”</I>were premiered at <U><B>Carnegie Hall </B></U> by his wife pianist <B>Inga Kashakashvili</B>; Solo Fantasia <I>“Argonavts”</I> was premiered at <B> <U>Jazz at Lincoln Center</U></B>; and his String Quartet <I>“Dictator”</I>, dedicated to the August war in Georgia, had its premiere at <B> <U>Steinway Hall</U> </B> as part of a concert organized for Benefit for Georgia. <BR> Mr. Oakley served as a co-producer, composer and music editor for the Georgian-American documentary film<I>” Misha vs. Moscow”</I>, directed by <B>John Philp</B>. The Film was officially selected by <B><U>10th Tbilisi International Film Festival </U></B>and was premiered at <B><U>Amirani Cinema</U></B>. In March 2010 the film presented at prestigious <B><U>Frontline Club</U></B>, London. “Misha vs. Moscow” also screens on The <B><U>Documentary Channel</U></B> throughout the first half of 2010. <BR> A native of Tbilisi, the Georgian capital, George began playing the piano at the age of eight and took composition lesson at the age of fifteen. After finishing the <B><U>Z. Paliashvili Gymnazium for Gifted Children</U></B> George continued his studies and earned BM from the <B><U>V. Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire</U></B>. In 2001 he received full scholarship to participate in <B>PianoSummer Festival</B> at New Paltz. In the same year Mr. Oakley was the top prize winner at the <B><U>Flier International Piano Competition</U></B>. <BR> In 2003, Mr. Oakley was invited as a guest artist in the festival <B><U>United Sounds of America</U></B>, dedicated to 9/11 tragedy. In 2005 Mr. Oakley graduated with distinction from <B>DePaul University</B>, Chicago (MM in piano performance) in <B>Eteri Andjaparidze's </B>class. From 2003 to 2005 Mr. Oakley becomes a recipient of DePaul Performance Award and a member of Steinway Artist Ensemble - <B>AmerKlavier Studio</B>. Some of his performances were broadcasted by <B>WFMT</B>, Chicago’s classical radio station. <BR> Currently, Mr. Oakley is a featured student at <B><U>New York University, Steinhardt</U></B> where he is receiving Master degree in music theory and composition as a student of <B>Ira Newborn</B> (film scoring) and <B>Justin Dello Joio</B> (classical composition). <BR> Mr. Oakley as a co-producer is currently developing second film episode of the documentary series <B><U>“In the Shadow of the Giant”</U></B>. He was also commissioned to write cycle of songs for Soprano based on Shakespeare’s Sonnets that will be recorded and performed by opera singer <B>Nika Leoni</B>.
