Mind Blowing is a bit mind blowing! A unique compilation of carefully selected music that moves away from the traditional classical trumpet genre. "Brass" yourself for something light, fun, unique & inspiring, something truly mind blowing..... The idea behind Mind Blowing stems from one of those typical summer Thursday lunch hour concerts at the University of Pretoria’s Musaion in March 2011. Renier & his father, also a keen music enthusiast attended a performance by the well known South African Steinway pianist, Charl du Plessis. After Charl’s excellent performance, Renier phoned Charl to congratulate him & shortly after they signed a sponsorship agreement with Renier’s previous company, Marais Deveron Capital. Their friendship had begun and in 2012 Mind Blowing was born. Early in 2013, Louis van der Watt from Atterbury introduced Renier to Matthys Maree, theatre manager at Atterbury Theatre & owner of Oddysey Records based at Atterbury Theatre's recording studios. Between Charl, Matthys and Renier, they carefully filtered through the proposed repertoire of 80 songs, compiled over the years by Renier with the help of his family & friends. They finally decided on the 13 diversified tracks. Charl's excellent arranging skills & talent, combined with Renier’s 40 year old Vincent Bach Stradivarius C-Trumpet, makes a unique blend - truly a soul soothing experience!
