A tangent from the usual Out Out sounds (industrial dance/rock in the 90s, moody electronica and clubby techno in the 2000s) this album is all experimental pieces. Centered around arpeggiator-heavy modular synth and processed percussion sounds for the six works conceived for the short film Asteroid 99, interspersed with three pieces of scultped rhythmic and arhythmic noise and ambiences from a series called Scrapings, and rounded out with a harsh beat-driven indusrial noise track written for Daniel Mahoney's book/cassette Sunblind Almost Motorcrash, this album is an interesting side work for those who love washes of sound, experimental textures, and some good old-school synthesis. Completely unlike anything Out Out has done before, it's also unlike what's coming soon - the first vocal industrial rock/electronica Out Out album since 1997.
