简介
In the fall and winter of 1995 Lance and Donna traveled slowly through Israel, India and Nepal enjoying the different musical flavors each of these countries have to offer. This is the collection of instrumental compositions inspired by those travels. Recorded in two parts, the first was on a Yamaha QY20 programing in sequences one note at a time off and on over the period of ten months. The second part was recorded in Nashville during one week under solitary conditions in the recording studio of 3-Pups mastermind Brad Smith. I added other instrumentation to the sequenced tracks, left them completely alone, or sometimes even recorded all new tracks. Sequestered in the studio, alone, I was only visited when I phoned out for food. Uninterrupted, I would work on for days only sleeping when my body finally demanded it. It was fun. On the first track, "Edna's Garden" I pulled out the violin and a 'little' sitar we had bought in India. You know how you have to be careful what you wish for? Well, I wished that on our trip through India I would have the opportunity to play a 'little' sitar. Meaning of course to play 'some' sitar. The only sitar I had contact with (until the end of the trip) was indeed a very small sitar, as big as my leg... maybe, almost. Normally a sitar is quite large. We bought it. This is the sitar that you hear. I was later given a full size sitar... but that is another story! Some weeks later, it was mastered in a studio somewhere outside of Washington, DC by a nice guy for a reasonable sum. Sorry, we lost touch. If you are him and reading this, send me a mail. Lance played all instruments and composed all the music. Thanks to Brad Smith and Donna Howley for all their love and support, then and now.
