"New Perspectives" celebrates Amelia Romano's journey performing world fusion music on her electric harp. The album features over a dozen works of original repertoire, fiery Latin rhythms, western classical traditions, vocals, and fresh arrangements-- including the blues standard, "I'd Rather Go Blind," and the Mexican bolero, "Besame Mucho." Her work speaks boldly of her experience living in Cape Town, and introduces the listener to people and places that inspire her artistry. In collaboration with local talent, she brings the listener to the townships of black South Africa, Mexico and Venezuela, finding common ground in the stories and rhythms connecting humanity.
