简介
Jette-Ives is the pensive provocateur of feisty jazz singer Jette Kelly and inimitable composer-producer Holmes Ives. Simultaneously melancholic and lascivious, candid and metaphoric, sometimes jazzy and always charismatic--Jette-Ives's debut album, In the Deep, is an intoxicating, unapologetically debauched liaison with temptation. In the Deep undulates beneath Jette Kelly's cashmere voice and salacious pen; rises with the elegant composition and acclaimed production of Holmes Ives; and coolly lounges on the subtlety, grace, and superb musicianship of its instrumentalists. Wryly--The Story: In the year 2005, ever-lascivious Jette and always romantically contemplative Ives drank a lot of scotch and had several inspiring carnal exchanges (though not with one another). A careless affair left Jette locked in her house with a kitchen full of scotch and chocolate, which inspired Ives to choreograph her tempestuous, overly dramatic, (albeit sincere) self-induced solitude to music--thereby luring her, song by song, back to the outside world. In order to perform it, Ives said in reference to their album, you must leave your house. Happily--The Album: In the Deep tongues-itself-in-cheek with the amused 'Darker Than You'; reveals the naughty ode to pleasure-pain, 'In the Presence of'...; offers a fiercely heartbroken 'Ultimately, Darling'; stalks one-lover-too-many in 'Vexed'; and weaves a tempestuous dance of masochistic seduction in the tango-inspired 'Proximity'. In the Deep is a painfully keen erotic introspection intertwined with trippy beats, jazzy upright bass, cinematic strings, and naughty thoughts imparted by a delicious voice.
