简介
“Liston has an Irish soul: He wails and moans with Celtic blues, carries an ageless folk melody with his gently rasping tenor (which sometimes recalls Stephen Stills, sometimes Wilson Pickett) and phrases with unrestrained, even torrential emotion” "Best Male Vocalist 2007" ..... Riverfront Times, St. Louis, MO. “....Pat has a powerhouse lead vocal”. ........ Jean-Charles Costa, Circus Magazine, N.Y., N.Y. Pat Liston is probably best remembered as the writer and lead vocalist from ‘Mama’s Pride’, a St. Louis band that had two successful albums in the 1970’s, “Mama’s Pride” and “Uptown & Lowdown”. “Dreamer” is Pat’s second solo CD, following “Blue Mist” (2003). Acoustic guitars and fantastic harmonies, coupled with strong, flavorsome songs are the ingredients. This new album advances the direction he displayed so well on that first outing. The music is immensely accomplished and tuneful. Liston’s stylistic approach harkens memories of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Poco, Eagles (when they focused on acoustic harmonies) and groups of that ilk. Liston wrote all the songs , the vocal harmonies on this record are infectious and impressive and stand up to the best. Pat sings “seeing each other revives a simpler time in our lives.” This music is like that. A better era is recalled, a time when people sang and played music that was not a sythesized product. That concept should never go away. There’s no tape loops, sequences or dance steps. This here’s real music from a seasoned veteran. Chris James, Shake Magazine, Nashville, TN Pat Liston first gained widespread recognition as one the founding members of Mama’s Pride...... a band known, with great affection as “The Pride of St. Louis”. Pat is a versatile singer/songwriter/musician, and spearheaded the band as a key writer and lead vocalist, as well as playing keyboard and slide guitar. Mama’s Pride had two successful albums in the 1970’s: “Mama’s Pride” (1975) and “Uptown & Lowdown” (1976). Produced by such notables as the Legendary Arif Mardin, who garnered over 14 Grammys and 40 gold and platinum albums in his lifetime and Jim Mason, who has won gold and platinum albums with Firefall, Poco and others. In 1992, Mama’s Pride also released a third album on CD, “Guard your Heart”, produced by Grammy winner, Jim Gaines. The music on all three albums has sustained in popularity, and is still played on many radio stations in the U.S. and Europe. In 2006 they released a long awaited “live” CD. Recorded at the Pageant in St. Louis! It’s simply called, Mama’s Pride “A Live and Well”. Pat toured coast to coast with Mama’s Pride alongside top recording artists such as: The Charlie Daniels Band, The Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Bob Seger, Heart, Kansas, Alice Cooper, The Outlaws Todd Rundgren, Joe Walsh, Reo Speedwagon, Ringo Starr, Stephen Stills, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Loggins & Messina and many more. More recently, Mama’s Pride has been breaking records with yearly Sold Out concerts at the Pageant Theatre, one of St. Louis’ newest and most popular concert venues. In 2003, Pat released his first solo CD “Blue Mist” with 11 self-penned songs on it. In December 2008 he released this 2nd solo effort, “Dreamer” with 12 new songs.
