Marissa Lauren's sound has been described as everything from Regina Spektor to Norah Jones, and Kate Nash to Adele. Writing piano driven pop music with heavy indie and folk influences, plus the occasional dash of soul; she has a truly unique sound. Marissa recently caught the attention of singer Ingrid Michaelson who called her voice 'beautiful' & 'haunting'. Since then, she has opened for comedian, Lena Dunham, on her unconventional book tour for 'Not That Kind of Girl'. Marissa was awarded Best Vocals, Most Original, and Song of The Year at UC Irvine's Antstock music festival; a campus-wide competition for songwriters. Her cover of Nicki Minaj's, 'Starships' gained much attention when Nicki Minaj herself tweeted Marissa's video to her 17 million followers. 97.1 AMP Radio also named Marissa's acoustic/acapella version of 'Starships' one of "the best covers of the year's hottest tracks!".
