简介
Nigel Holton was born in England and has lived in Los Angeles for over 20 years working as a film and TV composer. In 1992 he was nominated for the IFP Spirit Award for best music for the film "Kiss Me A Killer", and more recently won for best music at the 2004 DigiFest SouthWest film festival for his work on the short "Scarlet Momentum". The song "Happiness Within", from the CD "This Journey", won as the most inspirational song at the 2004 "Hollywood Spiritual Film and Entertainment Festival". "This Journey" is Nigel Holton's follow up to his critically acclaimed first solo album "Above The Clouds" (Eversound Records) which was described as a "sumptuous aural tapestry" and "a spirited, transcendent epic". This new album follows in that same tradition, delivering a beautiful sonic feast that uplifts the heart and excites the ears. The album opens with the evocative, Indian influenced, Happiness Within that combines lush contemporary textures, the ancient sounds of tablas, sitar and bansuri flutes (Pedro Eustache) and angelic vocals. Amaroo Sunrise follows with an atmospheric landscape of color, combining native american elements with digiridoo, drums and orchestra. Coup De Grace has a powerful middle eastern sound with duduk, vocals, oud and drums. The title track This Journey continues with an Indian influenced melody played with stunning beauty by Pedro Eustache on bansuri flutes. The album continues with strong melodic material in a variety of styles from the classical/jazz influenced Incredible Miracle, to the meditative and evocative Indian influenced Basking At High Altitudes, to Round And Round featuring Manuel Iman on spanish guitar. Heartland opens with a gospel choir and dobro slide guitar developing into a powerful anthemic song with pulsating african grooves. Not Alone continues with vocals, guitars, keyboards and drums with a rock influence, leading us to the final track Katmandu that unwinds with a beautiful indian influenced melody played by strings and flutes against a backdrop of tablas and udu. This album takes you on a magical journey to distant lands and to the inner world of the heart. Musicians performing on this CD: Pedro Eustache (Ravi Shankar, Yanni, The Passion) - bansuri flutes, Richard Hardy (IMAX Everest, Carol King) - flutes and Penny whistle, Manuel Iman (Flowers In The Desert, Legacy) - guitars Chris Bleth (many film scores, including The Passion) - duduck, Daya Rawat (Waiting For The Moon) - vocals, Lucia Iman - vocals Jason Hann - tablas, dumbek, djembe and other percussion, Fuzzbee Morse - electric guitar, Scott Grusin - slide guitar and bass, Jim Gallagher - acoustic guitar, Eduardo Del Signore - fretless bass, Nigel Holton - keyboards, percussion, french horn, flugel horn and vocals.
