Geff and Masha play tunes from old-time America; lively, traditional fiddle & banjo tunes, reels, hoedowns, waltzes, mixed with great old-fashioned songs and some wild and wonderful buckdancing. Their fiddle and banjo playing has a lovely, intertwined sound in which the "accents accent each other....bouncy, rhythmic, lyrical and expressive..." They share a deeply-felt passion for old-time Appalachian fiddle and banjo music, which both have been playing & teaching for over 30 years. A native of northern California, Geff has studied and jammed with master musicians such as Melvin Wine, Art Stamper, John Hartford, Tracy Schwartz, Clyde Davenport, Ewan MacColl, Peggy Seeger, and Tom Paley. His singing voice has a perfect old-timey sound, and he knows more tunes than a porcupine has quills. Masha was one of the original members of the Chicago Barn Dance Company, and is known across the country for her traditional dance calling & flatfoot buckdancing. She lived & performed in Europe for almost 15 years, and has performed at the Eastbourne Folk Festival, Cheddar Folk Festival, the Dun Laoghaire Fraochan Festival, University of Chicago Folk Festival, Fox Valley Folk Festival, the Strawberry Music Festival, and many more.
