简介

DARYL EDWARDS Daryl Edwards was born in New York July 9, 1958. Daryl's parents have told him that when he was only 3 years old, Daryl used to play around on the family's piano. They were surprised to hear that this "playing around" sounded "just like real music." (Daryl's father regretted until the day he died that he never enrolled Daryl in any music classes) Daryl remembers playing the piano as a child but does not remember how it sounded! In 1967, Daryl's family moved to St. Thomas in the beautiful United States Virgin Islands. Daryl always loved music but it wasn't until 1976 that he first began to play. He was inspired to begin playing when he saw one of his former high school classmates "showing off" by playing a guitar on the campus of the then College of the Virgin Islands (now University of the Virgin Islands) where Daryl was enrolled as a student. Daryl was inspired because this former classmate was just an "ordinary guy" in high school. Daryl figured, "if he could play guitar, so could I!" So Daryl bought his first guitar and began practicing both guitar and bass. Soon after he bought his first bass guitar. Daryl became good enough to be selected to play bass in the back up band for the College of the Virgin Islands' Calypso competition in 1979. This was the first time Daryl played in front of a live audience. Daryl's performance caught the attention of many movers and shakers in the local music scene, which led to an invitation to play bass in Daryl's first "serious" band, Infinite Love in 1979. (Up and until then he had played in many "bands" that practiced, but never played live) In 1980, Infinite Love recorded an album that achieved moderate success in the Caribbean. When Infinite Love broke up in 1981, Daryl played rhythm and lead guitar with a reggae band called Rebel Action System. This band opened for some famous acts such as Burning Spear and Steel Pulse when they performed in St. Thomas. The band went through a big change in 1985 when 5 out of the 6 members, including Daryl, became Christians, a change that affected the band's lyrics and outlook on life. Rebel Action System broke up in 1987 and since that time, Daryl has concentrated on developing his studio and record label, True Faith Productions. True Faith Productions specializes in moderate, contemporary Gospel music, with a strong Caribbean flavor. Daryl plays all the instruments, sings, and functions as a sound engineer for True Faith Productions. The motto of True Faith Productions is, "The music may change from song to song, but the message stays Gospel."
