简介
Although a person can usually look at a particular building or a car and tell if it is quality construction, such is not always the case with music. In this brave digital world, thousands of new artists are competing for attention and throwing everything they have at us to do it. Few artists emerge from this and can be called a pure songwriter. Even fewer spend the time to carefully construct a song that leaves you both satisfied and emotionally connected to the experience. Emerging from the pile is Lucciana Costa with her debut work, “Last Chance for a Pony.” The granddaughter of jazz great Eddie Costa, she had big shadows cast on her whenever she stepped to the piano. Some of her hard rhythmic lower register use of the keys she gets honestly; it is in her genes. The rest she gets from working tirelessly and listening to a wide range of styles. Her vocal style is smooth, clear and unfiltered with gadgets and gizmos. She just tells you a story plain and simple, and underneath that story lies a dynamic spectrum of sound and instrumentation. Although the piano is the underlying instrument driving the rhythm in her songs, she has interspersed several samples of her beloved resonator guitar sound throughout this collection. Working with some of the top studio musicians in her home town of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Costa has assembled a record worthy of attention to a very broad fan base. "A magnificent beginning to what looks like a promising future for a spirited talented and pasionate young woman eafter to chase down her dreams with everything she has." -Terry Jacoby from the Ann Arbor Journal "The vocals are clear and endearing, and you quickly find yourself rooting for the girl behind the piano. As both a performer and a songwriter, this young woman has quite a career ahead of her, and I look forward to watching her grow and succeed musically." -Sasha Pasulka, creator of Evil beet
