简介
Get Us Through is the title cut of Dr. Desmond Pringle’s sixth studio album. The soulful ballad was inspired by the tragic domestic terrorist act that took place on Wednesday June 17, 2015 at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC. On this night, nine faithful parishioners lost their lives at the culmination of their midweek Bible study. Pringle, a Dove Award nominated singer/songwriter and native son of Charleston grew up less than a mile away from the church site. In disbelief as he watched the national news outlets report on the heinous incident, he found himself prayerfully uttering the words, “Get Us Through”. Hence this SOS was born. SOS is Pringle’s acronym for Song of Supplication. “In times like these the power of prayer and intercession must be engaged as human effort and intellect alone will not suffice”, says Pringle. Philippians 4:6 tells us to be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding would keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. The text goes on to read that the God of peace will be with you. While this martyrdom in Charleston was the catalyst of this song, Get Us Through articulates the heart's of anyone in trouble of any kind. Horrific events unfortunately will continue to occur as we are living in the perilous times of the last days. As a prophetic psalmist Pringle is faithful to the charge of penning and publishing music that will edify, exhort, and comfort. This song and album are chock- full of substantive content that Dr. D, as he’s affectionately called, hopes will graciously minister to the listener. “As believers we do not sorrow as those who have no hope. There is an expiration date and statute of limitations assigned to every trial. We simply need to embrace and employ the grace to get on the other side of it. It is Dr. Pringle's desire that we would all be fully persuaded and thoroughly convinced that there is no hard place we can ever come to that The Lord is unable to Get Us Through.
