JOIN US ON THE RED ROAD Support the “Born On The Rez” Music Campaign to #Honor1851Treaty & Support WATER PROTECTORS through MNÍ WIČÓNI ~ WATER IS LIFE Legal Defense/Offense Committee Robby Romero was called by his elders and the youth to the Standing Rock Strong Hold to stand in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Nation and the Water Protectors on the front-lines of an historic Indigenous resistance to the Dakota Access Pipeline, an oil pipeline snaking through 1851 treaty land adjacent to the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in North Dakota. While living in camp at Standing Rock Robby wrote several songs — the first BORN ON THE REZ. “From the Wounded Knee Massacre in 1890 – to the Siege at Wounded Knee in 1973 – to the historic stand at Standing Rock, the song BORN ON THE REZ is a poetic journey through history about how we as a people got to Standing Rock and our fight for cultural survival in the 21st Century. Standing Rock is a powerful moment in history with World attention and an opportunity to lead us socially, environmentally and spiritually from a path of destruction to a path of healing. A path that honors the rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Rights of Mother Earth and all our relations for the generations to come.” – Robby Romero The music campaign consists of the following products: music single, music video, public service announcement and rockumentary film created to support two objectives born out of our movement at Standing Rock. 1) #Honor1851Treaty campaign; and 2) Mní Wičóni Legal Defense/Offense Committee. #Honor1851Treaty campaign is designed to generate support and educate the public through social media, TV and online broadcasts, public rallies, events and concerts about various violations of United States laws including the Constitution Of The United States— The Supreme Law Of The Land beginning with The Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851 and numerous National and International Human Rights, Civil Rights, and Environmental Laws broken during the historic gathering of Native Nations standing in solidarity to halt the Dakota Access Pipeline. Mní Wičóni Legal Defense/Offense Committee is an organization lead by Indigenous cultural and civil rights leaders Dennis Banks (Ojibwe Nation), Madonna Thunder Hawk (Cheyenne River Sioux Nation), and Phyllis Young (Standing Rock Sioux Nation). It’s mission is to support and defend Water Protectors on the front-lines of the movement who have been arrested, violated, disenfranchised, marginalized and displaced. The goal is to help the United States Of America and its citizens see the wisdom in upholding and honoring Treaties made with Native Nations beginning with the The Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851 and to support and defend Water Protectors who are now facing state and federal charges. The music single was recorded at Capitol Records, executive produced by Dennis Banks and Laila Nabulsi, produced by Don Was, engineered by Ed Cherney, mixed by Steve Addabbo, mastered by Howie Weinberg, and features some of the music industry’s most eminent Native and Non Native Grammy Winning musicians. The chorus Mní Wičóni Water Is Life features Water Protectors including Dennis Banks, Dakota Romero, Ta’Kayia Blaney, Raye Zaragoza, Gary Farmer, Robert Mirabal and the legendary singer-songwriter/actor Kris Kristofferson. The campaign has received support from a number of Academy Award winners and noteworthy influential people of change including Patricia Arquette and Alisa Keesey of “Give Love Organization", Robert F.
