Born in rural Clarendon, Jamaica, on 27th March 1940, Derrick Morgan moved to Kingston at the age of five. By 1960, Morgan was the unrivalled King of Ska at the peak of his popularity, he was the first and only Jamaican artist to take the top seven slots on the national singles chart in the same week, with a string of hits including our featured tracks 'Be Still' and 'Meekly Wait And Murmur Not'. Today Derrick Morgan is blind but still runs his own label, produces modern reggae stars and sells out clubs as part of Jamaican vintage music events and an ongoing international ska revival.
