简介
The pop/rock group The Stand formed in Amherst, MA in 1983. Originally a three-piece outfit featuring singer/songwriter Mike Shea, guitarist Bill Henry and drummer Andy Sargent, the trio wrote some songs and soon added guitarist Kenny Kutney to the mix, while Henry switched to bass duties. The quartet played many gigs in and around the Five College area and recorded and produced a self-titled album in 1984. After moving to Boston in the late eighties, the band found themselves immersed in the growing Boston local music scene, sharing gigs, management and rehearsal space with Letters to Cleo. Replacing drummer Sargent with Dave Donnelly and later Mike Lugin, The Stand won the WFNX Alternative Battle of the Bands in 1989, and recorded a second collection of tracks entitled "Stand and Deliver". In 1990, the band recorded their first CD release, again self-titled, on the Power Play label.
