Berlin Walls #2
简介
“Berlin Walls” is the forth album of Elephant Pixel. Combining his trademark vocals and real instruments with samplers and synthesizers, Elephant Pixel, also known under his other, more electronic guise, Dilo, recalls the most neu-romantic moments of his Berlin life. Germany´s crazy party capital, his home for ten years, served as an endless source of inspiration, and led him to hone his songwriting skills while exploring Berlin´s beautiful landscapes. The result: ten astonishingly blissfully sweet and poppy songs, all filled to the brim with dreamy vocals and cascading chords. Split into two EPs, the ten songs written between 2015 and 2020, perfectly mirror a kaleidoscope of emotions, a crafty collection of rainbow-colored flashbacks. Conceptually, it's a holographic successor of his first album “Folk, Lisergia, Computers”, released in 2005, and marks a return to Elephant Pixel´s roots of folky psychedelic dream pop.“Berlin Walls” is his most organic album so far, full of nostalgic beauty („she smoked a joint and then she twisted me away, now I am drowning inside cuz I can’t get her heart“) and reminiscent pop songwriting („Our love is strange, strange is real“). Recorded in Berlin during his last years living there, it works as his musical diary, a hedonistic time mostly spent in his home studio in Kreuzberg, in sweaty clubs along the Spree and the majestic lakes of the city. Falling in and out of love, the Berlin way – it´s complicated –, Elephant Pixel´s odes to freckles admired in endless nights, smoking girls, and the liberties of sensuality, sound like a sorrow-free throwback of a time long gone by. Too right: Dilo is returning to his roots by focusing on nothing but his singer songwriter craft. He sings, plays guitars, piano, synths, drum machine and sampler. Accompanied by his fellow producer Pablo Heredia who is playing the bass, piano, guitar, synths, and tambourine, he breaks down walls. Built to last forever and once invincible, they come down in seconds.
