简介
Composed and played by Evan Hause on guitars, basses, drums, and keyboards. Mixed and mastered by Nolan Eley Clarinet on "Tornadonis" by Maureen Hurd Cover by John Leamy ------- EVHA 3 ©℗ Evan Hause, BMI ------- Evan Hause is well-known as a composer of a diverse body of work including chamber music and large ensemble works, rock albums, serious and light operas and mini-operas, orchestrations of electronic music, electronic and electro-acoustic music, traditional and surreal arrangements of music by other composers and rock groups, and music for young people. He is a virtuoso percussionist, guitarist, keyboardist, bassist, and vocalist and has conducted numerous works of his own (including three operas) and other composers. His musical influences were shaped by rock bands, symphony orchestras, and avante garde percussion and contemporary music ensembles. His rock influences range from 60's psychedelia to 70's prog to early 80's metal and back to 90's prog and beyond. Hause grew up in North Carolina and moved to the Midwest, to the Great Plains, to Brooklyn, to New Jersey where he currently composes and records. His day gig is helping other composers realize their dreams. "'Mad Geography' is a collection of four rock instrumentals. Some of these were originally for other people and instruments, such as 'Study in Flak' - which was composed for Transmission (Colin Stetson, Stuart Bogie, Eric Perney, Andrew Kitchen) - but are here realized by my own hand. 'Mad Geography' began as a study in the rock trio - only guitar, bass and drums, as you hear in 'Red Eye' - but I could not help but to add a few bells and whistles and the occasional keyboard on other songs, and even a bit of clarinet (by Maureen Hurd). 'Tornadonis' is my most far-reaching instrumental and has taken me many years to get right; likewise 'Daisy Chain', which is the heaviest, coming out of 90s heavy prog-grunge a la Primus. Trying to learn these songs with other rock musicians has broken up most bands I have been in. With this EP I have laid them out the way I always wanted to."
