"Tides of You" has been a long journey for me. On this EP, I explore the process and the emotions of a struggling relationship falling apart. It represents the ups and downs of two individuals, who slowly grow out of sync as they push and pull each other to the breaking point. The "tides" also represent the different characters a person will transform into during a relationship; from kind to mean-spirited, or caring to indifferent. It's not as a simple as a single transition that goes from love to hate. It comes in unpredictable waves, where some waves come crashing in violently and others softly slide across the beach, but both exist in positive and negative form. Each song on this EP originated through a completely different process: I wrote "More" in a single day on New Year's eve. I spent several months on "Demons in my Head", repeatedly coming back to it and adding small parts. I explored a style that I had never touched upon before in "Dancing on a Fault Line". I even put my trust along with one of my songs in the hands of SixFeetHigh, who came back so quickly with a remix that blew me away with the amount of detail and attention that was put in it. I wrote, recorded and produced this EP out of my small apartment here just south of Amsterdam. My goal for this EP was to build it completely from the ground up by myself including all the music, artwork, photographs, social media, the website and administration. This definitely slowed down the process and I more than once thought that I might never finish it. However, after a lot of hard work and perseverance, I sit here as a proud musician who accomplished one of his long-term goals. It's truly been a humbling experience that has taught me a thousand valuable lessons about who I am as a person and who I am as an artist. I'm so so happy to share this piece of my life with all of you. Thank you!
