简介
That's "Supa-dupa PYEW-pa," as in what comes between a larval and adult honeybee! This collection of songs by the "Singing Zoologist" (yes, Lucas actually has a degree in zoology) covers topics such as pollination, deer overpopulation, metamorphosis, symbiosis and much more. Throughout you'll find the outrageous humor that has become Lucas' trademark. Only he would have a tadpole asking, "Does my tail look smaller to you?" or declare that buffalo dung "might be gross but it's a dirt revitalizer/ask any farmer it's great fertilizer." Lucas' music is singable and catchy without being insipid or annoying and this is his finest collection of songs yet. Co-produced by children's music luminary Joe McDermott, you'll also hear contributions from Sara Hickman, Laura Freeman, Dave Sanger (from Asleep at the Wheel), Dan Torosian (Marcia Ball's former sax guy), Two High String Band, Darcie Deaville and more. Uniting the songs are underlying themes of growth and mutualism. A close listen reveals a layer of hope, joy and metaphor beneath the science. Never preachy, Lucas instead chooses to inspire his audience by illuminating the connections within the natural world and the efforts humans are making to protect it. This recording won a 2005 NAPPA "Honors" award, a fall 2005 Parents' Choice "Silver" award and was chosen as a "Parenting Pick" for music (ages 5-8) in the October 2005 issue of Parenting Magazine. School Library Journal simply says, "An Outstanding Album." For full reviews, visit www.lucasmiller.net/CD-Pupa.htm. Especially recommended for ages 6-12. Includes a 16-page lyric booklet fully-illustrated by the amazing artist Brady Smith.
