简介
Jeff Trenholm is an independent musical artist from NJ. He has been described musically as "mixing acoustic and electric instruments into a beautiful union of ethereal sonic delights." His single "Enough to Fall" was released August of 2002 and shows a turn toward a more experimental phase in his music, yet retaining the trademark emotional edge to his approach and lyrical content. Heading more toward acoustic- based writing, yet adding effects, heavy at times, to add depth and texture to the recordings. Atmospheric, ambient synth and percussion sounds reverberate throughout, adding even more layers to envelope the listener in. This new single also follows "The Singles 2001" released in late March 2001, which marked a turn toward the release of singles rather than full-length albums, creating an open field allowing for more song-to-song diversity. Released early July 2000, the dark, introspective "Garden of Black" contains what he considers his best and most emotional album work. His 1999 solo effort "Lost July" (#JST0899-3) was released in August of 1999 and contained one of his most popular songs to date, "Breeze." His first solo effort, "The Intimate Room" (#JST196-1) was released July of 1996 and contains some of his most enduring songs, such as "Tonight I Can Dream" and " The Blue Sky." Jeff has fully embraced the Internet as his main source for the distribution and exposure of his music. His former main site was the original MP3.com...on which before it was taken offline in January 2003 had accumulated over 106,000 plays. Where in the past he had directed his live performances more toward a solo acoustic show rather than a full-blown electric band performance, he has recently scaled back most live performances, as to concentrate on writing and recording.. "although I really do love the solo acoustic performances, because it gives me the chance to get immediate reactions and audience feedback to the songs, I'd rather spend what time I have for creating new music, rather than just repeating the old songs, but I'm sure some kind of performances will happen..." He has also recently released "Acoustics in the Garden V1.0," a CD of acoustic versions of select songs from his previous releases. Jeff Trenholm first started writing and recording as Signature back in the summer of 1989. The first album "Fallen From Grace" was released January 1990. At that point, he started putting together the first of many incarnations of the live band Signature later releasing the second album "Mirror Image" in early 1991. Many changes came to the band that year, as members came and went until finally in the fall of '91, he met with Matt Mayer, who would become his main songwriting/arranging partner in what were the most productive years of the band. A few more member changes throughout early '92 saw the core of the live band solidify with Jeff on vocals/bass, Matt Mayer on guitar, and Mike Battaglia on drums. Recording the first of two studio demos in February of 1993, the band started getting some airplay locally, mainly on WHTG 106.3 FM in Eatontown, NJ. Playing a very full schedule throughout the summer/fall of 1993, this was the best period for the band as a live act. Taking a break during the beginning of 1994 to gear up for the second studio demo, the band started to fracture as tensions between band members grew and communication broke down. The second demo, done with Jeff on drums, bass, acoustic guitars, vocals and percussion and Matt on electric guitars was a great leap forward for the band, especially in terms of Jeff's songwriting style, which was now becoming more solidly focused. Unfortunately, tensions took their toll and the band silently called it a day in June '94. After a lenghthy break from music, Jeff began a his first solo album in April 1995. The Intimate Room was released July of '95 and re-released on CD (Jeff's first CD ever) a year later in July '96. The next two CDs Lost July (1999) and Garden of Black (2000) would see Jeff's music growing and getting more attention as he turned to the internet and MP3 as his main form of promotion and distribution. The newest CD, The Singles: 2001 was released March of 2001 and contains new recordings of what were unused and/or unrecorded Signature singles, two original Signature studio recordings, and updated remixes from his early solo albums which will be released on the internet over the next few months. He is also currently at work on more recordings and in the very early stages of what may be a new album, that promises to be a departure from his "normal" songwriting style.
